Digital Mammography uses revolutionary direct capture technology to convert x-ray energy into digital data. Unlike film (analog), the digital data can be manipulated by computer software to maximize the interpreting radiologist's ability to see any abnormalities.
A recent published study called DMIST (Digital Mammographic Imaging Screening Trial) involving fifty thousand women showed the digital mammography to be superior to analog for the following three groups:
• Women with dense breasts
• Women under 50 years old
• Women who are peri-menopausal This latest advancement in technology, combined with our specialized fellowship trained radiologists, enables us to detect breast cancer at an early stage for the women of Cape Cod, South Shore, and South Coast.
